“Blood of My Blood” is a mixed media series that was created in part with my menses. In January 2019 I started this process as a way to look at sexual violence against women and the sacred feminine. So much of what a woman will experience throughout her lifetime is the loss of body sovereignty. Her person is subjugated through current politics, socialization, religious propaganda, the list seems endless. I think this work is relevant more now than ever in light of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade.
